Thanks for responding!

I meant to say that when I use the "commit all" button, I end up at the last segment. Thankfully, WFP5 does not do that each time I commit one segment :p

Ctrl+Z or Shift+F5 does not work for me but I should probably add that I work on a mac... Ctrl+Z actually closes the file! So if there is any mac users that can help, I still welcome input. For now I'll try to keep in mind the segments # and use cmd + G.
Hi
working with WFP5 on an iMac.
AFAIK the only way to go to the empty segment that follows the segment that has been translated last is either Until Fuzzy or Until No Match.

How to make a consolidated TM from multiple txml files in Wordfast Pro

Hello experts,

I have the licensed version of Wordfast Pro (3.4.10). I have hundreds of txml files translated by me in the past years. I want to make a consolidated translation memory from these files.

Does a method exist to do so? Is there a software or application which may help in this respect?

Thanks in anticipation for your help and guidance.

Regards,

Chopra

Hmm... in WFP3, go to the "PM Perspective" tab (the 4th icon on the left, that looks like an ice cream scoop), then go to Cleanup tab, drag and drop your TXML files (or copies of them!), tick "Update TM" and select which TM to update. Then strap in, close your eyes, and click the Cleanup button.

I had the same issue with DGT TM's in WFP. After you've created a TM, open it with a text editor and substitute the lines on the top:

(I pasted the lines here, but it is considered html and won't show...Better check the Wordfast FB group where there is a discussion about this topic.)

After this, WFP will import all TU's in the TM.

If you want edit TMX, you should edit all segments (TUs).

Unfocusing Word window makes WFC's auto-translate faster

Hello everyone

I've noticed that when dealing with documents where a lot of segments are 100% matches, WFC runs through the segments much faster if Word does not have the focus. I.e. if I click in another window or on the Desktop, WFC is suddenly faster.

So I wrote a little AutoIt script that unfocuses and refocuses the Word window easily using a shortcut. It is here:

Wordfast Classic keeps crashing

I use Wordfast Classic v.7.71 and Office Professional Plus 2019 on a Windows 10 Pro platform. There has been a few Windows updates the last couple of weeks, and all of a sudden Wordfast Classic keeps crashing after translating a few sentences. If I copy and paste the text in the Word document into Notepad and then back in a blank, unformatted Word file, it works. But I can't seem to translate the file as is with formatting such as tables. Any insight what might be going on? Thanks! :-)

I can't help with the problem you're having, but I must mention that sometimes certain files are too complicated for WFC to handle, even if WFC was able to handle similar-looking files, due to complex formatting or layout. In particular, sometimes tables may be impossible to translate with WFC. Sometimes you can solve this problem by "fixing" the tables, if you know how to strip unnecessary formatting from tables. This applies to all versions of WFC.

Two other things that you can do that are old news to old users of WFC is (a) to "repair" your Word installation (see ]here for instructions for your version of Word), and (b) to reset the normal.dot or normal.dotm file (you do this by deleting the file "normal.dotm" while Word isn't running, so that Word recreates it when you run Word again, but note that if you do this, all customizations and your own macros in Word will be lost, unless you saved it somehow).

I don't use WFC very much anymore, but for one customer I do. Last week I copied a row from Excel into Word in order to translate with WFC, but two times Word froze and I had to cancel the software. Then I translated the text in Excel without CAT, it was only 54 word fortunately.
Hope someone finds a solution, or we have to abandon WFC for good.

Maybe due to the corruption of the "core.properties" file (a conflicted copy issue in Dropbox?), it is not possible to connect to the TM.
Any idea how to solve the problem and recover the contents of the TM?

Hello Yakiv,

Is a file corrupted or too large even ZIPed?

While they mention MS Visio (vsd vdx vsdx) as eligible format for WFA, there's a note:
If you received a VSD file, ask your client to save it as XML Drawing (*.vdx). As of Wordfast Pro v. 3.2, Visio (VDX) files can be translated directly just as any other supported file format without the need to write custom conversion rules. Use File menu > Open to open the file. When you finish translation, use File menu > Save Translated File to get the target file in the same *.vdx format.
Dear DZiW,
Thanks for reply.
Files are normal vsdx files opened in Visio and WFA.
Do you know if vdx files are working with WFA - not WordFast PRO?

Hi Yakov.
When we upload a file in the WFA a window appears where it says view allowed file formats. There is also MS Visio vsd vdx vsdx. I suggest you contact the support and ask for their help!
