Hello,
yet another problem with Wordfast Pro 5 v 5.11.1.
I was working with a remote glossary provided by client, and now I am getting the following error:

(Glossary) IO error occurred: Network exception.

This software is so frustrating. Makes me lose tons of time :(

FYI, here's some more feedback that I've sent Wf Pro via the program's Feedback function:

"Here's some more feedback and another suggestion for you to completely ignore, just as you have completely ignored all my other helpful and valuable suggestions to help make your product better.... (but I live in hope):

I would like the option to configure the Terminology window so that I can see any notes I have written for Glossary entries.

I would also like this feedback window to be in larger font as it is ridiculously small for my less-than-perfect eyes.

Thanks"

Yet another issue with Wordfast Pro 5.

The "Score" column is meaningless given that when it encounters a 100% match (as shown by the green-highlighted 100% in the "TM window"), the Score column simply shows as mauve... like that is supposed to mean something? Or maybe not?

Either way, what is the point of having the Score column and being unable to hide it to make room for more useful information...?

I am actively going to start looking for a better CAT tool now (recommendations appreciated).
What's the point of having a score column when 100% matches show as 99% and don't automatically propogate? That's the problem that I've been getting.

I looked at the release notes hoping that I'd find that all the bugs I've reported had been fixed. One of them is in the list of fixed bugs, the others have just been ignored. On the other hand, lots of the issues they say they've fixed are issues I've never encountered.

On the plus side, my WFP 5.11.1 progress bar has mysteriously started showing accurate readings again.

Dear Barbara,

I heard from the hotliners that the ticket was closed because you contacted support through email and received a response via that channel. If the issue is still pending resolution, please re-open the ticket.

Thanks,

Dear Barbara,

I want to reassure you that the bugs you reported have not been ignored. They are prioritized based on how critical they are, how many people have reported the same issue, how long they have been in the development queue, etc. Certain fixes, improvements and new features are more urgently needed than others.

Kind regards,
John

Here we are back to square one. I installed v5.12.0 on my Mac with OSX Mojave and WPR does not open. Again! I thought this bug had been solved, but apparently it has not.
Crash on closing may have been solved, no start on opening is back!
I edited the config.ini file as once instructed by John DR, to no avail.
My bad not caring about warnings! Disappointed!

P.S.: I copied the Wordfast.app (v5.11) from a backup to Applications on my iMac and WFP works again.
Sorry, should read WFP of course...

WFP5, Access and share TXT (Wordfast format) TM

Hello,

TLDR; How can I access the TXT (Wordfast format) version of my TM in WFP5 to share with a colleague?
--
I'm working on a project with another translator and we plan to share our TMs once a day. I have WFP 5; she has WFP 3 (corporate environment).

When I try to export my TM, it only gives me the choice to export as TMX.
When I try to find it in the actual TM folder, I find the JSON file and dvm files etc, but no TXT file of the TM.

I suggested she import my TMX into an existing TM, but she says on her end in WFP 3 she only has the option to import a TXT, not TMX (can't verify, don't currently have WFP3.

Any help much appreciated!

In WFP3, AFAIK, there is no option to *import* a TM into another TM at all. However, you can *open* both TXT and TMX TMs. If you open a TMX TM, WFP3 will automatically convert it to TXT for you, and then you can open both the original and the new TXT TM in e.g. MS Word or a Unicode-aware text editor and simply copy/paste from the one to the other.

In WFP3, go to Translation Memory > New/Select TM. Click Add TM, then make sure the Local TM tab is active (it usually is), and click the Browse button. She'll have the option to select a TMX file. WFP3 will open it and convert it to the local TM format.

You (and she) can also use Odent's WfConverter to convert between TMX and TXT. I have no idea where to get this utility at this time, so I uploaded it ]here for you.

Did this perhaps happen because your client's server was down, so Wordfast could not access the remote glossary?

Hello David,

thank you very much for your reply. I wish that was the issue, but no...
It happens every single day, several times a day.

Remote TM didn't load and I had to shut down and restart. Why? I understand that no software is perfect, but I come up against problems every day, and I paid good money for this software. Will be back with more problems to share.
Hi
as not many WFP5 users seem to have the problems you're complaining about, did you consider the possibility that there's something wrong with your PC setup?
Even if there is something wrong with my PC, why didn't you answer my query? My email and web browser work fine and I got an automatic confirmation email from you and I check my spam folder like 5 times a day.
Wolfgang Schoene I do not agree with you. I have exactly the same issue Reed James describes (my PC settings are fine). The only software I run into problems with is Wordfast Pro 5.
You not agreeing is fine, but I was just hinting at a possible cause for your problems which I cannot confirm. WFP is far from being perfect, but I cannot complain about stability or Java error messages or speed or else. Maybe the PC version is simply more bug-ridden than the Mac version.

I have encountered the same issue several times when running Wordfast Pro 5.8.0 on MS Windows 8.1 and I blame it on the fact that this is an outdated version with the current one being 5.12.1. However, I am not sure. I haven't tested the new version yet.

Post title: You need Wordfast Pro 5.12

The 'gs4tr:uuid' attribute is something new Wordfast Pro 5.12 adds in TXLF files. Older Wordfast Pro 5 versions don't know the attribute and refuse to open the file…

Hence, you need Wordfast Pro 5.12 in order to open the file. You should be able to download and install 5.12, unless you are using 32-bit Windows (5.10 and newer require 64-bit Windows).

[Thinking aloud: alternatively, you could hack the TXLF file, i.e. open it in a text editor and remove the offending attribute. You would probably need some XML experience to do it, though. I don't know, however, if the attribute is required in the file when you send it back to your client who obviously uses 5.12.]
