You are not paying again. If you go to the Licensing Page and click to select your current license, "Get Activation Key" suddenly appears at the bottom. Click on it and they usually give you a new one. This has confused me a few times.

In Wordfast Pro 3, is there a function for confirming the current segment and moving to the next unconfirmed segment?

More generally, how do you quickly find unconfirmed segments? (Other than highlighting, which is not effective enough)

Can't find answers in previous forums.

Moderators: don't move this post to random forums, thank you.

Hi Daniel,

You can confirm/unconfirm a segment by clicking on the orange * in the toolbar.

To find unconfirm segment, click on Window - Show View - Outline. You will see another toolbar opening on the right hand side. Scroll down the arrow (show all) and you will see the option Unconfirmed.

I hope this helps.

TM looks empty on WFP 3

Hi all,

I am experiencing a problem with WFP 3.
An agency sent me the TM provided by the client that was originally intended to be used with Trados.
The TM was converted by the agency into a .TMX file so that I could use it on WF (as I don't have Trados).
When I upload the TMX file into WF, it looks totally empty, but I know it is not.
What is the problem? How can I solve this situation?
Thank you in advance for your kind help.

Do you have the same locale in TMX as in a project (EN-GB, EN-US....)?

I do not understand a text: "When I upload the TMX file into WF,..."

TMX can be uploaded into Wordfast Anywhere (a web application ).

In WFP 3 is TM in same text file format like in Wordfast Classic. I do not use WFP3 for long time, I do not know if WFP3 convert automaticly TMX into TXT.

(In WFP4 and WFP 5 is database into which one have to import data from TMX.)

TMX can be converted into Wordfast text TM in Wordfast Classic or in Wordfast Anywhere or by WF2TMX.exe (very fast).

Some non-native English users use "upload" when they mean "load". Some native speakers do it, too.

I launched my old WFP3.4.6. In menu, in Translation Memory is an item New/Select TM.
In TM List: Create TM, Add TM, Edit TM, Remove TM, Export TM.

My last translated document was EN-CS. I click "Add TM", browse to RU-CS TMX. WFP3 shows me to languages Czech/Russian for source and Russian/Czech for target. I toggle the codes manually to RU-CS.

WFP3 converted TMX into TXT Wordfast TM with a right direction. New TM is in the same folder, where is TMX.

But: WFP warning me the language pair of the project do not match to language pair of imported TM. /Here are terms import and convert, too./

I created a new presentation, I simulated the "locale", wrong project, wrong language direction.

Wordfast Classic gauge of translation progress

Hello guys)

Sometimes I have short breaks and could translate some 50-100 segments, yet now I have to mark where to stop, which is not funny.

Thus, have you ever encountered a macro to gauge one's performance, including (1) how many segments were translated during the current session so far and (2) how long it took?

Indeed, there're Macro_* in Pandora Box and it seems trivial, but I don't know how make it working and have a (floating?) panel with the number of currently processed segments and time elapsed, anyone?

Furthermore, some PMs may like the idea seeing the whole project/document gauged in sessions--with the number of segments and time--using TM attributes.

TY

Hi everyone,

sorry for the late reply.
I was finally able to work on the translation because the agency sent me the TM as a .TXT file.
So problem solved... for now.
Thank you Milan for your kind offer via email anyway! :-)

In Word you could insert a time stamp in a segment either in source or target.

Thank you, Heinrich. As I noted, it's more about interim tempo/estimates, just keeping the nose to the wind.

Meanwhile I declared public variables TUnum, TUtime and zer0, and modified WFMT macro as:
. . .
TUnum = TUnum + 1: s = Str(TUnum) 'increase the TU number and reset output string
If TUnn > 1 Then TUtime = (TUtime + (Timer - zer0)) \ TUnum: s = s + " x " + Str(TUtime) Else zer0 = Timer: TUtime = 1
'if it's not the first entry, then update the time and find the average ELSE set initial values
Application.StatusBar = s 'show info at the left-bottom MS Word status line
. . .
If Not Tasks.Exists("Qtranslate") Or Application.NumLock = True Then Exit Sub
. . .
It doesn't work with re-segmentation or cancelled translation, gives overhead to fuzzy matches and such, yet shows segment numbers and average time.

Of course, there're better ways, but I guess it would do for now)

Wordfast Classic gauge of translation progress | Look at the TM text file

Post title: Look at the TM text file

In Wordfast Classic, the TM (translation memory) file is in .txt format and with a suitable text editor (I usually use notepad++) you can look at all the segments and see the line number of each one. Example: I have a TM file in which line 7 is:

20091228~121306 RD 1 DE-01 Achtung - Gefahr! EN-GB Warning - Danger!

which means:
done at time 12:13:06 on 28 Dec 2009, by user RD, re-used once, DE-01 (source) is "Achtung - Gefahr!", EN-GB (translation) is "Warning - Danger!"
Line 15 is:

20091228~122331 RD 4 DE-01 Wirkungsweise EN-GB Method of operation

which was done 10 minutes (& 25 seconds!) later, and is 8 segments later. This approach can help you see your progress in segments per hour. If you want to see progress in words per hour, you can select the relevant text in a copy of the original source file (click at the start and then shift-click at the end) and the word processor (at least, Word will do this) will count the words for you in the selected text.

Hello to all.

A great new feature has arrived. You can now change the User Interface language in Wordfast Anywhere. This means all dialogues and functions will be in the language of your choice.

At present the U.I. has been fully (or almost) translated in two languages: French and Spanish.
The good thing is that Wordfast has decided to open this translation work to the community (similarly at what ProZ.com does to localize the website). And it should be worth your while:

Once you reach a certain amount of translating (or reviewing) you will be rewarded either:

_ A Wordfast Studio license
_ Or a free fuzzy match registration for a Wordfast User conference.

This isn’t too bad I think.
To translate the U.I. you don’t need anything, you can do it directly online, they have created a dedicated page for this.

I just wanted to put the information out there for all that could benefit from this.

I have posted a quick tutorial on my YouTube channel to show how it works. Watch it here:

The DEADLINE for this reward is May 15!

The fuzzy match ticket is now valued at €380. Check out the conference website for more details about what it includes:

Yes... yes... oddly no option to translate WFA's UI in WFA, though. For each segment, you type the translation in the little box, and then click the "Save" or "Update" button with your mouse. And then, to move to the next or previous segment, you... just... click in the next or previous box.
