Ctrl+Shift+Down?

I'd like to be able to select all the text from the current cursor position to the end of the segment. In MS Word, most web browsers and other CAT tools you can do it with Ctrl+Shift+Down. Can't make it work in Wordfast, much as I try with key shortcut preferences. Any ideas?

In other words, need a key combination to go from here (with the cursor before "an"):

to here:

Not sure about WFP3 but I suspect you need the right arrow or function key.

Best,

John

Yes, Ctrl+Shift+RightArrow does it one word at a time. I need to select the whole text at once, from the cursor to the end of the segment.

Yup, and it works when I plug an external keyboard. My laptop doesn't have an "End" key, guess I'll have to remap some other key into it. Thanks for the tip.

Hi Daniel,
The Fn key usually turns the down or right arrow on your keyboard into an end key. Do you have a Fn key?

Yes, but none of these do the trick:

Ctrl+Shift+Fn+DownArrow
Shift+Fn+DownArrow
Ctrl+Fn+DownArrow

Ctrl+Shift+Fn+RightArrow
Shift+Fn+RightArrow
Ctrl+Fn+RightArrow

While fumbling with all those keys I (re)discovered that Shift+DownArrow selects one line down at the time. Not exactly what I sought, but close enough.

Wordfast 5 and TM Lookup results

Hello,

I'm using WF3, but I would now start working with WF5. I've a question about the TM lookup.
When you get TM results automatically or perform a TM concordance, then you get several data about that TU. In WF5 I don't see the Score and Last modified date of that segment. Maybe I should change something in the setup?

Thanks

Samuel, why not contact Yves/LLC and suggest such features, say, for Pandora Box or ini?

Well, I already did, but even if he does add it, he'll only add it in the latest version, and we don't all use the latest version. He found it odd that there would be situations in which most QA warnings are false positives, whereas I found it odd to discover (from him) that most QA warnings are in fact NOT false positives. I suspect it depends on the language direction and the size of the glossary. But there is another reason he won't add it: it's not trivial to change the default button.

WFC with columns in MS Word

Hi,

I've got a Word document with 2 columns (table), the client wants source text on the left and target on the right. At the moment, both columns contain the source text. The table is set up so that, for the most part, each paragraph is contained in a separate cell. The problem is that when I press alt+down to move to the next segment, I'm automatically taken to the next sentence in the left column instead of downward in the right column. I've tried hiding the text in the left column but it reappears upon pressing alt+down, and the next segment opens up in the left column again. I've thought of copying one column into a new file and then copying it back into the table after I've finished translating, but in the past that has ended with me spending too much time re-formatting not only the numbering on the target side but also the indents, as copying the text back into the column seems to cause it to go out of whack. That wouldn't be that big a deal but the document is fairly large and if I had to re-format it would probably take years. I'm using Word 2003 and WFC 6.99.

Does anyone have any suggestions for a good way to handle this? Thanks!

Copy the column, translate it but when you paste it back to the original file use "Insert as a New Columns" paste option.
The formatting should be unchanged.
Just try with a few segments.

Wordfast number format (decimals and commas) not changing from European to English

I use WF Pro 5.3 and it won't change decimal points and commas in numbers (i.e. 5.359,00 to 5,359.00 or 1,25% to 1.25%). I've looked everywhere in preferences and searched online but can't figure out how to do this automatically. This is a significant waste of time as for every number I have to backspace and change the comma or decimal point. But WF PRO 4 used to do this so why can't I get 5 to do it? What am I missing?

Dominique, could you outline the sequence of basic steps that should be performed after translating all the source text using WordFast Classic ?
I mean : quality check, spelling check, reorganize memory, perform clean-up, etc. and the order in which these steps should be carried out.

WFP 5: Allocate more RAM, customize font

I am currently testing WFP 5 on Mac (High Sierra, new model, 16 GB RAM) and I am experiencing some problems:

The confirmation of a segment is really slow (6 K words' project, empty TM) and takes up to 2 or more seconds. This is too slow (generally speaking, even for default settings). As WFP is a java program, I assume there is some way to increase the allocated RAM, but how? I know where to find the package info of the app, but mayxbe I oversaw the corresponding file.

I also observed there is no possibility to increase the font of the auto-complete pop-up. With a Retina display, it is no fun to use the standard fonts, but while I was able to set most of them, the impossibility to increase this font size is a bit annoying.

Bonus question: Is there no way to change the standard windows layout (TM and TB at the bottom)? I remember WFP 3 having draggable windows, this was a miracle, but I assume WFP 3 has certain disadvantages compared to its modern sibling.

Anyone can help? Thanks in advance.

I'm not sure if you can hack the files to increase RAM on Mac. I know you can do this on PC. Have you tried the solutions here: [url removed]

Maybe you have some sync program that is slowing things down? This happened to me once (Google Drive constantly re-syncing TMs, etc.).

For the font size, this is a good improvement request that you can submit to the development team via the Help icon (WFP Feedback).

Unfortunately, the TM lookup and terminology panes are stuck where they are. The good news is that you can undock the Live Preview window.

Best,
John
