With Wordfast, corrections should be made in the bilingual file.

WF Classic (with a Word file): proofread and make corrections in the bilingual file (there is the Alt + comma toggle, so that you can see only the target text, this one can be printed or compared on the screen with the source file), then (last stage) clean up in order to have the TM updated.

WF Pro: proofread the xtml file either on the screen either doing an intermediate export, make your corrections in the bilingual file, then (last stage) confirm all segments and save exported file. And always have a look at the lay-out (adapt check boxes, etc.).

Personally I don't. I even don't know if there is one for my native language. I proofread on the basis of my personal knowledge. (TEP = translation, editing, proofreading)

But I worked inhouse in a translation agency, and I know that lots of people send their first draft without even looking at it.
