Topic: Populate a bilingual file with the content of a monolingual file?
Poster: Rutger Cornets de Groot
Hi,
I received 89 txml files in both monolingual and bilingual form for proofreading. I delivered the monolingual files last week because I thought that's what the client needed. It appears now that they need the bilingual txml files as well. I am not sure why, the reason they give is that
We need to do the editing in the txmls – but also in the monolingual file – I think it is used by the client to repopulate their PDFs which have a lot of repetitive content. I know it’s not ideal.. the target should match exactly the content of the regular txmls.
At any rate, I am now wondering if there is a fast way to accomplish this task of populating the bilingual file with the content of the monolingual file. I did notice that in the larger files the segment numbering is sometimes off, which is not a good sign I suppose... But if you would have any suggestions on how you would go about in this situation? If it helps, I do have SDL Trados Studio 2015 in addition to Wordfast Pro (latest version, forget which).
Many thanks for your thoughts!
Best,
Rutger
