When I used Wordfast Classic, I ran a couple of times into such a problem. Well, I opened such documents in OpenOffice.org (now [url= [url removed] ]Apache OpenOffice[/url]), made a minor edit and saved. After that, the document could be opened and cleaned up in Word. Try this way. Warning: some formatting may be lost, problems with embedded objects are possible.
